Company History
Saintexs history starts in the year of 1948, when Olavi Sainio
established a plastic seaming factory under a commercial name
O. Sainio. Located in Karjalankatu, Helsinki, the factory
manufactured Saintex products, starting from plastic folders
and pocket size raincoats. The company form changed from commercial
name to a limited partnership company, KY O. Sainio &
Co at the turn of the 1970´s.
The factory started the development of plastic seaming in
post-war Finland. For example, the development of foldersseaming
technology began in Saintex's production. The account statement
folders and other customer giveaways, which Finnish banks
and insurance companies have been using for a long time, have
built up the plastic seaming sector for their part.
In 1988 factory became Saintex Ltd. adapting the name of
the products. Saintex moved into its present premises at Kurkimäki
industrial park in 2001.
Many of the plastic products known by Finnish people, like
writing pads, visitorsbooks, telephone memos, small photo-albums,
clipping folders, logbooks, magazine collectors albums, covers
of check books, passport jackets and soft reflectors have
originated from Saintex's production over the decades.
